BASE MAINTENANCE PROGRAMME A BRITISH GAS TRANSCO - WALES LDZ The
data base maintenance programme was used to update the network by interrogating
all existing systems and correlating information ready for migration into the
new TEAR/GBNA system. This project was conducted by Rockall Personnel at Transco
sites in Maelor - North Wales and Cardiff, with co-ordination between these sites
to ensure complete integration of National Network information. SCOPE
OF WORKS (Item
1) Street Naming and Numbering was carried out in accordance with the agreed procedure
and programme and included: -
Input notifications received from Local Authorities concerning changes to streets
names and numbering.
- Updating
MINE & E+MW/UK Link systems with concise street names and numbers.
- Personnel
were required to interrogate the three systems named above in order to audit and
maintain present information for migration into the new system (TEAR/GBNA)
(Item
2) Top 200 Mine Sweeping. This exercise involved the interrogation of MINE/DRS
systems to confirm traffic sensitive information recorded and Local Authority
information received. There were approximately 9,600 outstanding records which
needed to be updated. (Item
3) DFUS Updates. DFUS needed to be updated for full details of the site to be
available and to ensure that geographical features were in the correct place.
The accuracy of this data was essential for planning purposes and exchange of
data between utilities, as some utilities provide plant data only. (Item
4) Uprating and Down rating of Mains within DRS. This is a process whereby digitive
mains have been uprated / downrated on the MINE system but is not automatically
amended on DRS. Therefore, DRS need to be manually updated.
