Nippon Electric Glass

Construction of a £200 million glass manufacturing facility specialising in producing glass for television screens on a green field site in Cardiff.

The scope of work involved Structural and Mechanical installations for the plant which was carried out by DMD with labour supplied by Rockall.

The contract consisted of:-

Construction and installation of main core pipework; Installation of furnace and batching area;
Construction of platforms, walkways, stairs;
Installation of ductwork;
Installation of air purifying, gas, water and steam pipework.

Contract duration - 6 months.

Rockall provided DMD with engineering personnel when required at short notice over the duration of the contract in the following numbers and disciplines:-

Welders (24)
Fabricators (26)
Platers (13)
Riggers (18)
Mechanical Fitters (19)
Mates (12)

The project was completed to schedule and within budget.
Rockall were commended for the consistently high standard of labour supplied.
